Haunted Paws breeds on this page are the seven dogs LazyFlock named in the October 19, 2026 Steam news: German Shepherd, Great Dane, Jack Russell, Mastiff, Retriever, Rottweiler, Shiba Inu. The same note adds nine accessories and a kitten-in-disguise fur. They change how a puppy looks in Steam Demo 4992280 (live October 8, 2026) and, when the full game ships, on Steam 2861080. The full game is still TBA. No source shows speed, sniff range, bark, health, or damage per breed, so there is no tier list and no stat column. Verified October 24, 2026 · demo store page · full store page.
Pick the coat you can tell from your partner's coat in a dark split view. A hoped-for pug, a Basenji, a Schnauzer, a Beagle, an Akita, or a Labrador is not on that October 19 list. Those names stay Unverified until the swatch on your screen uses the word. One demo session's kitten coat was a white cat and would not recolor to black. Eyes, ears, tail, and voice are the rest of the picker, and they are looks too. There is no breed icon pack. The tables are the entry.

Use the October 19 list and ignore a longer list from an older preview. LazyFlock named German Shepherd, Great Dane, Jack Russell, Mastiff, Retriever, Rottweiler, and Shiba Inu. That is the set this site will print. Earlier previews talked about dozens of breeds and showed an Akita and a Labrador. Treat those as preview notes. If your build's swatch still says Akita, trust the swatch for that session and treat the news list as the named set, not as a promise that every old name was deleted.
The choice is visibility. A Great Dane next to a Jack Russell is obvious when you call left and right. Two shepherds in the same brown are how a split-screen pair grabs the wrong puppy on a door. Neither dog sniffs farther. The puzzle page does not check your breed before it accepts a hold.

One setup opens with a hope for a pug, a black pug, a fawn coat, and a curly tail. Pug is not one of the seven names. Leave it Unverified. Do not add it to a tier list beside the Shiba Inu, and do not tell a friend the demo is "the pug game" unless the swatch on their screen says Pug. Fawn, a curly tail, and a cinnamon-bun tail are coat options if your picker shows them. They are not a breed row.
Session guesses fail the same test. Basenji, Schnauzer, Malamute, and Beagle have been said out loud over a picker. They are not the October 19 list. If the letters on the swatch match one of those words, your build is ahead of this page. Until then, pick from the seven.
Scroll the seven until the silhouette is obvious at a glance. Say the name once so your partner does not copy it. Lock it. The next decisions are a hat you can see past and, if you want the loudest callout on a couch, the kitten fur. Neither one adds a number.
A breed does not change the clue board. The broken window still wants a sniff. A chase still wants both puppies at a door you already opened, which is the creatures page. The first-night order is the beginner guide. After the seven are settled, the next section is the nine things you can put on the puppy.

They change the outline. The October 19, 2026 news names nine: Aquarium Hat, Eyeball Hat, Clown Hat, Top Hat, Swirl Glasses, Spider, Flower, Helmet, and Buttons. Wear one your partner can describe in one word. A Top Hat and a Helmet read differently in a dark room. Swirl Glasses sit on the face, so leave them off if you already lose the puppy against the floor.
None of these is a stat. The Helmet is not armor. The Spider accessory is not the spider-bodied figure on the factory approach, and wearing it does not calm that room. Aquarium Hat does not let you breathe underwater. Eyeball Hat, Clown Hat, Flower, and Buttons do not open doors, raise a sniff, or change bark volume. If a caption in a session calls a hat "pirate" or "backwards," that nickname stays Unverified until it matches one of the nine words.
| Accessory | What it is | What it is not |
|---|---|---|
| Aquarium Hat | A hat look | Not water breathing or a swim stat |
| Eyeball Hat | A hat look | Not a sight range |
| Clown Hat | A hat look | Not a noise or aggro buff |
| Top Hat | A tall hat look | Not a key |
| Swirl Glasses | A face look | Not a puzzle solver. Skip them if they hide the puppy |
| Spider | An accessory look | Not the factory spider creature |
| Flower | An accessory look | Not a garden item you plant |
| Helmet | A hat look | Not armor and not HP |
| Buttons | An accessory look | Not a currency and not a door code |
Some sessions spend a count during the mansion and come back wearing another hat. That means accessories are not only a mirror you touch once. The currency name, the price of each hat, and whether all nine are in the shop stay Unverified. Do not copy a number from one playthrough onto this table. Spending the count does not raise a stat, and running out of it does not lock the factory.
If both puppies buy the same hat, you are back to the coat problem. Change the breed or the fur before you change the hat again. Two Top Hats in the same brown are one puppy until the chase starts.
Pick the accessory, turn the puppy once, and check that you can still see the ears and the tail you just set. A hat that covers the eyes is a callout problem, not a build. Swirl Glasses are the first thing to take off if the room is dark. Then go to the kitten fur if you still cannot tell the two puppies apart.
It is a coat on one of the two puppies. It is not a third player, not a cat you recruit, and not the black cat from media plot notes. The October 19 news calls it a kitten-in-disguise fur. On a shared screen it is the easiest callout in the demo, because one body reads as a cat and the other still reads as a dog.
In one session that coat came out as a white cat. Patterns would not flip it to black. The player asked for a black cat and the picker stayed white. Do not promise a black kitten until the swatch on your screen offers it. A black cat as the reason the owner was taken stays Unverified, and it is not a fur you must equip to leave the apartment.

The same picker lets you set each eye. One session asked for mismatched eyes and got them, with brown and green named as the wish. Different colored eyes do not raise perception, and they do not flag you to creatures. They are how you recognize your puppy when the hat hides the ears. If your build only offers one eye color, stop there. A second color is not a hidden stat you failed to unlock.
Wearing the kitten fur does not open the factory, does not satisfy the clue board, and does not calm a chase. You still sniff, dig, and bark on the clue page, and you still run on the creatures page. The fur is worth using because your partner can say "the cat holds the left door" and be right.
If the white coat blends into a pale room, put the other puppy in a dark breed such as the Rottweiler or the German Shepherd from the seven, and leave the kitten as the light shape. That is the whole optimization. The next section is the rest of the setup screen, which is where people invent breeds the news did not name.
Before the breed row, one build asks how spiders should look: as intended, or an arachnophobia-friendly presentation. Set that first. It changes the drawing of spider bodies. It does not remove them, and it is not a breed. The friendly option is still a reason to turn around when you meet a spider body later. That route is on creatures.
After the breed, the picker keeps going through pattern, ears, tail, and voice. One ear up, floppy ears, a different tail, and a bark you can stand to hear are all looks. They do not change how far a sniff reaches or whether a door accepts your hold. A chopped-looking tail is still a tail option, not a wound and not a debuff. Pick the bark you will not mute, because you do bark at the fridge on purpose.

You are not optimizing a squad. You are stopping a wrong-puppy grab. Online co-op, split-screen, Friend's Pass, and Remote Play Together all show both bodies at once. The setup for those modes is co-op. A solo-only mode is Unverified, so do not build a "best solo breed." There is no best breed.
Console dates are Unverified. If your friend is not on PC Steam, the picker they are looking at may not exist yet. Check platforms before you send them a breed name.
Trust the swatch in your build over a memory of a trailer. If the demo shows a name this page marked Unverified, that swatch wins for the session, and the news list is still the only set LazyFlock has published. Patch notes, when a name moves, belong on the LazyFlock Discord. Do not import a breed list from another dog game.
You can leave the mirror now. The beginner guide is the apartment order, and the demo page is how far this build actually runs. The FAQ is the stat question people ask anyway.
Next: run the first hour on the beginner guide, with the two coats already different.
The fridge bark and the board are the clue page. The run, when a body shows up, is creatures.
Bring the second puppy in from co-op. If the swatch and the October 19 list disagree, check the LazyFlock Discord and trust the swatch you see.
None. German Shepherd, Great Dane, Jack Russell, Mastiff, Retriever, Rottweiler, Shiba Inu are looks. No speed, sniff, health, or damage stat is verified. Accessories and the kitten fur are looks too.
Seven were named on October 19, 2026: German Shepherd, Great Dane, Jack Russell, Mastiff, Retriever, Rottweiler, and Shiba Inu. Older preview names stay Unverified until the swatch shows them.
Pug is not on the October 19 list. A session hoped for one. Leave it Unverified unless your swatch says Pug.
Aquarium Hat, Eyeball Hat, Clown Hat, Top Hat, Swirl Glasses, Spider, Flower, Helmet, and Buttons. They do not add armor, range, or a key.
No. Kitten-in-disguise is a fur on one of the two puppies. One session was a white cat and could not recolor it black.
They help you recognize your puppy. No perception stat is verified.
No verified damage stat exists to reduce. The Helmet is a hat. The Spider accessory is not the creature you run from.
There is no public breed or accessory icon pack. Use the text tables on this page.
